Parents Attempt to Deal With "Toddler Discrimination"

June 3, 2016

Anybody who is the parent of a toddler has probably dealt with dirty looks while dining out at one time or another. While sometimes those glares are warranted, in The Washington Post's On Parenting blog, journalist Whitney Pipkin says other times it's just plain "toddler discrimination." After her well-behaved toddler inspired a nasty look at a casual cafe and an accusatory comment from an Airbnb host, Pipkin notes sometimes those in the hospitality industry are being too judgmental about toddlers based on the occasional bad experience. All kids act up sometimes, but they shouldn't be pre-judged, Pipkin believes.
